Catch Up

Wow, since joining facebook, I have kinda ignored my blog. So I guess its time to catch up! We have spent the past 3 weekends doing yardwork. 2 trips to the dump, and about 20 garbage cans later, our yard looks tons better. We straightened out our gravel, took junk to the garbage, made flowerbeds minus the flowers, just got them ready for another year. We had to go to homedepot to buy a weed wacker, and ended up getting some flowerpots and flowers that I planted, and I love having some color! Annie graduated, and I'm way excited for her. Its just so weird that she is old enough to move out and go out into the real world. We went to her graduation and then Justin and I went to Star Valley for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. It was wonderful to just get out of the valley, away from the house, and have a few days off of work. We are so lucky that his grandparents have a beautiful home up there that we can go stay in and have a few days to ourself. We went shopping in Jackson, went golfing, watched movies, and just spent some good quailty time with each other. Now I'm home, and Justin is working swings so...I'm glad we had the weekend. Happy anniversary Honey. I'm so lucky to be married to you. You are so wonderful! I love you!

Inside our Lives

Wow, a am totally in shock that it is already May. Last month I turned 21, Landon turned 16, and Rachel turned 13. It is so crazy how fast my brothers and sisters are growing up. This was the toughest birthday for me so far, I really didn't want to turn 21. I was happy and content at 20, but you can't really stop a birthday. It was fun, I went to Provo with my parents while Justin stayed home and worked. When I got home the kitchen was clean... weird Justin doesn't usually clean the kitchen on his own, but he cleaned it because his family and my family suprised me and came over with a cake. It was pretty fun. Thanks to everyone who made my birthday a special one.
These are the knobs that Celeste bought me for my birthday to update 0ur dressers and nightstand.

And here is the book my mom bought me that I have really wanted to display, and one of the trees we bought from Ikea.

Justin and I also started painting our house, something that we have needed to do, and haven't. But since we bought a car instead of doing a yard this year, we decided that we would do the inside home improvements this year, so we started with our bathroom. Its not all the way done yet (edging is a pain), and we need to go buy new trim, but its done for the most part, and completely livable. Its pretty wild, but we love the colors. I want to splash some pink, and a brighter green into it, but well, funds are always low aren't they, so we just do what we can and will use what we have for right now. Justin also put shoe shelves in our closet for us. When Celeste was building her house, she read a thing that said nothing should be on the floor in your closet, so Justin, Bronson, and Kade, put shoe shelves up for me, yea:)

One side of the bathroom, its blue and dark brown, don't mind the trim not being up!

Here is looking from the other way, I couldn't get a good pic of the shower, it looked too black, but it looks nifty too!

Here are half of the wonderful shelves the boys bought for me :) Thanks boys!

We also got to go speak to the youth in our ward last week for a fireside with Weston and Lacy Maxfield. We got to speak about going to the temple and what it ment to us. I was so greatful for that opportunity. When you sit down to think of what to tell the youth about the temple, you remember just how wonderful the temple is. Justin and I are sealed forever, and we will be able to go live with our heavenly father again someday. It is wonderful to think about all the blessings we have recieved this past year from going to the temple. It will be 2 years since we've been married the first of next month, and will be 1 year since we have gone through the temple a week after that. What an amazing year for the both of us. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for the opportunity that we had to go to the temple.

My calling is going good. Some weeks it seems like I reach out to the kids more than others, but we have fun and learn along the way. Next week we will be singing for the first time since I've been chorister, in sacrement, and while I'm a little worried about it, I'm so proud of the kids in my ward and all the hard work they put into singing for their mothers. I'm so grateful for my calling, I'm loving every minute of it!

Last Tuesday Justin was able to take the day off with me and go to a Dr. appt (no, no babies on the way). It was so nice to go stay in a hotel the night before, and just get away for awhile. After my appointment we went to Tai Pan, and Ikea, and Costco of course. We didn't spend much (I'm sure Justin was thrilled that we didn't), but we did get some vases, bamboo plants, and 2 other plants, curtin rods, place mats, ya know, the good old things to make your house a home. After that we went to the zoo which was so much fun, neither of us had been there for a really long time, and even though they are kinda low on big animals right now, it was so much fun to go and see all the animals that they did have.

Speaking of the animals, here is the quilt block that we are doing this year. The pattern is from Geralyn Powers. This is the first thing that I have ever really hand sewn, and I love the way its turning out. The first two quiltblocks are totally done, the lion I still need to sew around.

Jan/ Feb Quilt block, there was alot of work on this one.

March Quilt Block

April's Quilt Block

This is the cute lion, Jana had some fuzzy material she gave me for the mane and tail, and I love it!

Other than that, the Bergs have been pretty boring lately, hopefully one day life will slow down a little bit, I'm sure it won't, but its always worth a hope:)

We did it!!! Finally!

Yup, we finally did it, we finally bought a CAR! We bought a new to us, used to someone else, 2007 Poniac Grand Prix. We are super excited for our newest addition. Our good old honda died last July, and we've just been driving the trucks ever since, so its kinda nice to have a small car that we can whip around in.

Sorry, it was dark when we got out of the carwash, and I was going to retake them today, but we've had weird mud stormes lately, so its pretty dirty.

And the best part is that it has air conditioning!!! Something the poor honda lacked... RIP

Silver on the outside, black in the middle. I love it!

Here is a pic of my new stainless steel bowls that Justin was sweet enough to buy me. I've been looking for a set ever since we got married, but they are way stinkin expensive, and I finally found some at the For your Kitchen store in Ogden for an awesome price I'm so excited!

And last but not least... The Berg residence is no longer a Dish Network member. We finally did it, we finally called and got rid of it. For the last few weeks (since my no tv mode) we have hardly even touched the remote, so... we finally got it cancelled. We have had so much more time to just spend together which has been wonderful, and we don't miss it at all!

Valentine's and President's Day

Justin and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I had quilt block (yes I got it done!), then had to work til one and after that Justin and I were just able to relax and.... MAKE COOKIES! I'm so proud of us because they turned out so dang cute. We made a cookie sucker for each member of our families here in the valley.

Justin rolling out the dough

And carefully cutting them out.

Us waiting for them to cook, we were pretty restless at this point...

Finally! Me Frosting the cookies.

Almost done...

The finished Product, aren't they so stinkin cute?

It was fun just to be able to spend time together. Sunday, the primary kids were restless. I was so tired by the end of primary that it was crazy. Then during sacrament we had some really good speakers, but it was hard to hear from all the little kids running around, screaming, crying, and laughing. For the first time I was glad that I wasn't a parent on Sunday, because I think we would have gone through the same thing. Today we both had the day off so we headed down to SLC with Bronson to pick up a new bed for him and Misty. We had to stop and Smith's and Wal-mart too. I bought a whole bunch of produce( I could hardley fit all of the veggies in the veggie drawer), but I bought enough produce for me to cook a unfrozen meal for the next two weeks. I was so suprised at how much cheaper groceries are when you don't buy the frozen stuff. Hopefully this will help us both keep shedding off the pounds, or at least balance it out for all the cookies we have been eating this weekend!

HaPpEnInGS

Do you ever have those days when your just plain sick of TV? Yesterday I deleted tons of my shows. I'm so sick of TV. There are three shows that I can't part with quite yet; Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice, but the rest are history. I almost called and cancelled our dish because I've finally realized the rut we have gotten into watching so many shows. We have tried to spend more time as a family instead of watch TV. Its amazing how much more time you have for each other when the TV isn't such a major distraction. I feel so free not feeling like I have to watch it.
I can't believe we are almost in the middle of Feb. It is crazy how fast this year is already flying by. Lots has happened, yet I still don't have much to blog about. I got a new calling...as primary chorister. I LOVE MY CALLING! We have such a blast in primary. I have been teaching for the past 3 weeks, and have loved every minute of it. In fact, I just got done getting songs ready for this week. We are going to play a game with conversation hearts I'm going to make. I'm pretty excited.
Justin took me to Utah for our Valentines day, since he might go snowmobiling, and I have to work. We went shopping (of course) and I got 2 new dresses! I've needed some new ones because mine are all getting too big:) yea! We had to do the Costco thing too. Then we went to the movie, He's just not that into you (I didn't like it at all and neither did Justin, all the funny parts are on the trailer), but even though we didn't like it, it was still nice to just go to a movie and relax for awhile. Then we went to Timbermine. It is one of our favorite places to go eat. We went there on our honeymoon and have been back probably 4 times since, just on special occasions cuz its pretty expensive. Justin can get his prime rib and I can get my seafood. You sit in your own little shaft and its like your in an old rustic mine. It is so fun to go to! If anyone is interested, its in Ogden just google it and you'll find the address.
My quilt block isn't quite done... still lol. It will be done before saturday though! Justin moved it one day and lost a piece to it! So, being the sweet guy that he is he went to the fabric store and got me the material to make a new piece. How many guys do you know that will go to the fabric store by themselves to get a piece of fabric for their wife? I sure have a pretty dang good guy.
Oh, I got my hair cut and dyed, finally! I'm finally over the dark hair thing and I'm back to being blonde. We are starting to kinda invisline my teeth and get them back to being straight. I work with the best people at the dentist office! I got my teeth cleaned last week too. and the best news... I've lost 10 pounds!! Yea! I'm so excited. I've been on this watching what I eat kick lately, and excerising with Kimberly has helped too. Thanks girl! Getting married sure puts on those happy pounds, but I'm hoping to finally have them under control!
Beyond this, not much else is happening in the Berg house. Just work and work, and more work. We're pretty boring huh? I'm just thankful that we both have jobs, and that we both enjoy our jobs. I love where I work, and the people I work with! I'm so lucky to have such a fun job in the valley!
